NOTE:
How difficult is Nepal Cycling tour:
This trip is Moderate/Challenging in nature. The majority of the riding is on paved roads or hard packed dirt roads. Most are in fairly good condition but there are also some rough sections. Most of the rides are undulating with some good downhill sections. There are occasional climbs, with some of them being steep. As the trip is 90% vehicleâ€supported, there will nearly always be the option to enjoy the scenery from the bus. The leader will inform you in advance about any off road sections where the bus is not around for support. 60% of the cycling is on surfaced roads and on some of these routes there will be traffic. You will be advised of this in the daily briefing. Although it is a moderate trip a good level of fitness is required and you should feel confident cycling for 9 days in sometimes humid conditions (especially in April). As the trip stays at relatively low altitudes (below 3000m) there will be minimal side effects from the altitude and the laid back pace means you can relax and immerse yourself in the local culture.

Nuts & Bolts:
Bikes: Because some people can't imagine going on a trip without their own beloved bicycle, we do not provide mountain bike as part of this tour.
However, you are able to hire bikes from us. Price vary from $15 USD/day to $35 USD/day.The bikes we have are well-known brands of mountain bikes (trek, cannondale) with lightweight alloy frames, 24- to 27-speed gearing, v-brakes as well as disc break with Shimano components and front suspension. If you bring your own bike, please make sure it is a mountain bike, preferably with front suspension, and that it is in good order.
Bike Repairs: Basic spares and tools are carried by the guide and on the support vehicle, though we cannot guarantee to have spares for every conceivable problem. Carrying a basic tool kit, a spare tube, and a pump while riding is recommended.
Safety: Wearing a helmet is required on all our biking adventures and is nonnegotiable. If you do not wear a helmet you will not be allowed to cycle. Your tour leader is trained in first aid and emergency rescue, but to a large degree, you must be responsible for your own safety while riding. It is, therefore, compulsory that you take out travel insurance that will cover you for a mountain biking tour.
Support: Our all cycling tours are supported by vehicles and they are always available for tired cyclists. It is very easy to get bikes on and off, so you can rest when you are tired and cycle whenever you feel like it.
Guides: You will be led by a local English-speaking tour leader. All our tour leaders are well informed about the history, culture, and religions of the area where you are biking and are skilled at passing that knowledge on to you. Your guide is also medically trained and an experienced cyclist, able to handle most minor repairs en route.
Arriving and Departing: This tour begins in Kathmandu and ends in Pokhara. International flights, to and from the start and finish points are not included in the tour price. If you need help or advice arranging international flights please contact us.
Passports and Visas: Please make sure that your passport is still valid for at least six months at the end of the tour. All foreigners, except Indians, must have a visa. You can obtain a visa on arrival at the airport by filling out an application form and providing a passport photograph. To get a jump on the line, you can download a visa application form from the websites of the Nepali embassy in your country ahead of time. A single-entry visa valid for 60 days costs US$30.
Health: There are no compulsory vaccinations although it is strongly recommended that you are vaccinated against Typhoid; Hepatitis A and B. Tetanus and polio vaccinations should also be up to date at the time of travel. If you have come from an area infected with yellow fever you are required to be vaccinated before entering the country. Please speak to your doctor/physician for the most recent information.
Altitude: Travelers to the Himalayas may suffer breathlessness and headaches before becoming acclimatized. Though we won't be going over 2,000 m/6,000 ft, it is important to take things lightly at first and to drink plenty of water.
Accommodation: In Kathmandu and Pokhara you will stay in 3-star hotel and in between them we use to stay in forest lodge, Homestay, Hotels, Guest House.
Food: Meals are included in the itinerary where B = breakfast, L = lunch, and D = dinner. Meals during the tour will be prepared by the cook team and feature Nepali and Western-style cuisine. Any special dietary requirements can also be catered for as well. Please let us know at the time of booking.
Drink: Keeping you completely hydrated is a job we take very seriously. Cold water and energy-restoring drinks are included in the tour price. Soft drinks and other beverages during meals are not included. Beer and alcohol are NOT included in the price.
Solo Travelers: Explore Himalaya.org does not require you to pay an extra charge for traveling alone. We will arrange for you to share accommodation with another traveler of the same gender and if we can not match you up we will provide a single room at no extra charge.
Extra Expenses: We recommend that you tuck away a few extra dollars a day for incidentals. Included entrance fees are those for the listed sites and national parks that are part of the itinerary. Any other site fees are not included.
Money: The currency is the Nepali rupee (Rs) and there are Standard Chartered Bank ATMs in Kathmandu and Pokhara that take international cards. However, to be safe, we suggest you change money in Kathmandu and carry cash as a backup in case the power goes down, the ATM is out of order. Major credit cards are widely accepted at midrange and better hotels, restaurants and fancy shops in the Kathmandu Valley and Pokhara only.
Local Time: GMT + 5 hrs 45 mins.
Electricity: 220 †240 volts. Nepal uses a mixture of two and three round prong plug sockets, because of this we recommend taking a universal plug adaptor.

Today after breakfast we will take early morning flights to pokhara. A stunning half hour flight right over the Himalayan Range, flying over four of the worlds highest mountains, an experience not to be missed. On arrival in Pokhara check into your hotel and then your mountain bikes, you can go for a short and relaxed ride along the lake after which Pokhara is named. The afternoon is free to explore this beautiful lakeside town. you can go for walking up to the famous Peace Pagoda with its incredible view of the Himalayas, shopping for local or Tibetan handicrafts, taking a microlight flight or short trek to the nearest mountains! Pokhara is a mecca for paragliders. Overnight stay in Hotel. MEALS: B
Leaving Pokhara in the morning after breakfast, soon you will find yourselves off the main roads and riding over a distance of around 11 km uphill. Sealed road gives way to jeep tracks a few kilometres before our days high point, which is just after the village of Hot Chili. Climbing out of the village we turn off onto a doubletrack trail just before the ridge and begin an incredible, sustained descent down to the beautiful Begnas Tal Lake. MEALS: BLD
This is a long, challenging day of mountain biking and you have to traverse two small ridges via Sundari Danda (Beautiful Ridge in Nepali) and descend to the Mhodi Khola river at Borletar. as the ride is uphill Initially, you can opt to go via support vehicle, but after a short climb to the second pass we find ourselves on a great downhill on a single track that takes us through stunning terraced fields. As we ride we are continually met by amused locals who question our sanity for biking through their remote villages. We reach Bhorletar after about 20km and from here we follow the river on a wide jeep trail for the rest of the day, but dont be fooled, there are some challenging little climbs left to do on this final section. MEALS: BLD
Today morning after breakfast we will ride along Seti river downstream towards its junction with the Trisuli river. The gorge we ride through has some wonderful forest and occasionally opens up into small farming hamlets, where people will watch us cycle through with amazement! We'll have a picnic lunch by the river along the way, before reaching the little suspension bridge at Ghumaune Ghat. From here we continue by van to the bustling, bazaar town of Narayangath, where the vast Gangetic Plains of southern Nepal and northern India meet the Himalayan foothills. Here we check into our hotel and enjoy a late lunch. In the mid-afternoon we set off to explore the vibrant bazaar Return to the hotel in the evening where dinner is served. MEALS: BLD
After breakfast we mount up on our bikes again and hit the local Terai trails, sharing our way with local bicycles and maybe an ox cart or two. Heading out of town the little ‘paved’ road soon runs out and we get onto the dirt tracks. We continue on small roads and little walking trails through the gorgeous fields and villages of the indigenous Tharu people of the Terai. Look out for the traditional village buildings with their characteristic, tribal style wall paintings. Along the way we'll enjoy a lazy picnic lunch and drop into a local tea shop or two as well. By mid afternoon we will arrive at our jungle lodge. Meals: BLD
Today we will go for a jungle safari in the UNESCO World Heritage Listed Chitwan National Park. There will be a jungle walk and a morning elephant ride with a great chance of seeing rhino, various types of monkeys and deer, and perhaps even a tiger if we are very lucky. We top off an amazing day with a ride down the Rapti River in local style dugout canoe to spot not one, but two types of crocodiles (dont worry, they are small crocs!) as well as beautiful birdlife and wildlife sheltering near the river. We then ride our bikes back through villages and fields to our jungle lodge for a drink and the chance to catch a view of animals coming down to the river for a drink at dusk. A truly unforgettable day! Meals: BLD
Today as we continue through the hypnotising Terai landscape, with its unique ‘soft focus’ light, along the amazing jungle corridor between the Himalayan foothills and the Chitwan National Park. At Bishazaar Tal (Twenty Thousand Lakes), one of the most beautiful places in all of Nepal, we'll stop for a packed lunch, with jungle and lakes all around and, if it's a clear day, views up to the snowcapped mountains. Seeing 8,000m peaks while standing at 150m above sea-level is not something you do every day! We continue cycling and by late afternoon reach Sauraha. Here you will find shops, internet cafes, restaurants and bars, and the rest of the day is free to spend exploring the town, or just relaxing with a drink by the river as the sun goes down. MEALS: BL
Today we will ride along with the Rapti River, through farm land, small villages and forest where there is a real chance of us running into some rhinos, Following the border of Chitwan NP we can see the human / wildlife interaction and conflict and will learn about the challenges the National Park poses for the locals' livelihoods and safety, and also the challenges for the animals in terms of poaching. After a packed lunch along the way, and a further hour's riding we have the choice of loading up the bikes in the van to drive the last 30 min to our destination or riding along the highway for a short section before getting off onto jeep tracks again. Our destination today is the Gyan Farm, a lovely little farm house set in the countryside close to the National Park, nestled in a green grove of trees right next to the river. MEALS: BLD
Today offers a great deal of flexibility and can be taken as a rest day for those who wish it, or you can join in either morning or afternoon rides as suits you. Our suggested morning ride heads towards the eastern side of Gyan Farm towards the Uttarpani & Driver Danda (hill). About 70% of the way is single track with a half hour gradual climb, gaining views of the surrounding landscape, followed by a swift, flowy single track back to the farm house through the forest. Back at The Farm we can enjoy lunch and a cool dip in the pool, followed by time for a little afternoon siesta in the poolside hammocks. Later in the afternoon, those seeking more riding head towards Round Hill via single tracks and a very cool suspension bridge. After about 45 minutes of gradual uphill we stop for a drink at our favourite little shop, with a great chance to have a chat with the locals who hang out there. From here we ride down the most exciting and flowy single track where you blast down plenty of drops and natural wall rides and swift switchbacks. Back at the river we wind our way to the Farm for a well earned drink by the pool. MEALS: BLD
A leisurely morning follows breakfast before we head out for a jungle ride through fields and into the Sal forest. Sal are the tall trees indigenous to the area, which give an incredibly hard and highly prized wood. We have a great and totally different style of ride this morning on the forest’s natural pump tracks and along great single tracks with lots of turnings and flowing switch backs. After a last poolside lunch and after that transfer to Kathmandu Valley, where we arrive in time for a quick shower and change before we head out for a dinner to celebrate the completion of our cycling tour. MEALS: BLD
After breakfast you are free to fly to your destnation or you can also plan a trek for Everest base camp. MEALS:B

Me and my sons 19 and 17 years, were desperate to do a cycling tour in India after our Nepal tour with Explore Himalaya.I was nervous doing this kind of trip in India. However, our guide Akshay had planned out the safest tour and he was very safety conscious. It was an enjoyable 8-day trip and though there were some nerve-wracking road rides, most of the trip was awesome with few to no traffic. Would definitely recommend Explore Himalaya to other travelers.
It was more beautiful than I had imagined it. Valley of flowers is simply a delight to the senses. I came to know about this trek through my friend circle. We got in touch with explorehimalaya.org and they arranged the whole trek for us in a jiffy. Uttrakhand is a home to most beautiful mountain peaks and I'm glad I have discovered the cream of it all. Kudos to the team and the support staff.
