Hampta Pass Trek

Report in Manali before 10:30 AM. After registration on the point, take some rest and get ready for your Hampta Pass trek from this beautiful hill station. Your journey will start with 1 hour drive to jobra which is situated at 9800 feet. We will begin hiking in the forest having variety of trees like maple, deodar, toss and oak.The sight is refreshing. After 2 to 3 hours of trekking we will reach Chika, a picturesque valley, that is about 10250 feet above sea level. It has a lush grass-covered flat terrain, surrounded by gentle slopes. After you reach Chika, proceed to your lodgings for an overnight stay.

Balu ka Gera will be our next destination. After a sumptuous breakfast and Yoga in early morning we will start our journey from Chikka and walk along the left side of the river. Witness the small waterfalls on the way with lush green meadows and after crossing slope of boulders and rough terrain. You will reach a clear stream waterfall. Best place to fill in your water bottles. After crossing the waterfall, You have to get across the other side of the river. After crossing Half of the trekking distance you enter into a beautiful scenic valley Jwara. From here, the path is covered with vibrant flowers. From there, we reach at Balu ka Gera a perfect place for our camping stay. Balu Ka Gera is a flat ground amidst the mountains at an elevation of 11,900 ft. Enjoy your Meals and soak in the beauty here with overnight stay in camps.

This is an important part of the trek, so we wake up early in the morning to commence it. Today we have to trek for 9 hours. You can split the journey in two halves, a steady ascent on moderate steep slope to Hampta Pass, then a sharp descent to Sia Goru. The highest altitude will be achieved on this day at Hampta Pass (14,100 ft). start trekking after breakfast along the river side. This route will takes you further to the base and then the actual climb to the Hampta pass takes place. Hampta Pass is a vertical climb and will certainly test your stamina. By the time you reach there, you would be extremely tired but the site which enfolds in front helps you overcome the lassitude. Enjoy for sometime in the pass have your hot served lunch and then get ready for the next descent to Sia Goru. The trek to Sheagoru is easy on flat terrain. The Shea Goru camp site is also by the river side which makes for a spectacular stay. Enjoy your meals with camping stay here.

Early in the morning, begin the next chapter of your Hampta Pass trek after a delicious breakfast at the campsite. To begin with, cross the river that was visible from the camps in Siagoru. The first section of this day’s journey is easy as it comprises a long descent through the slopes. After the descent, you arrive in the valley. Today it is an approx 5 hours of easy downhill trek. Sia Goru is placed at an altitude of 12,900 ft and Chatru at 11,000 ft. You might have to be careful as the trail might sometime lead you to edges of mountains and ridges. The route has slippery parts too. A strong foothold and careful navigation would ensure a safe and sound trek. On your way to Chatru, You will notice the Chandra River flowing below and a road that goes by its side. Reach the magnificent camping site Chatru after a 5 hours of trek. After having a wholesome breakfast. A vehicle will be arranged from Manali to take you to Chandratal from Chatru and back to Manali. It will take seven hours to complete the journey and reach Manali.
